About Me
I am a seasoned system administrator and network architect with over 20 years of experience in the technology industry. My expertise spans from intricate IoT projects involving ESP32 devices to designing and implementing large-scale network infrastructure for high-density events and festivals.
Currently serving as the Director of Managed Services at RightRound, LLC in Austin, I specialize in creating seamless technology solutions for live events, festivals, and conferences. My approach combines technical expertise with practical problem-solving, ensuring technology works reliably while feeling effortless for end users.
My passion lies in taking small concepts and growing them into larger implementations. Whether it’s developing open-source wireless hotspot solutions, managing complex server infrastructures, or architecting temporary event networks supporting thousands of users, I thrive on turning technical challenges into elegant solutions.
I maintain a home lab featuring a diverse rack of compute hardware, including:
- Network routers running containerized applications
- An Intel NUC as a hypervisor appliance
- A RaspberryPi cluster interfacing with a QNAP SAN
- An IBM enterprise PowerISA 9 system (my power company’s favorite machine)
My learning philosophy is hands-on and community-driven. I focus on researching existing work on GitHub and public forums, continuously expanding my knowledge through practical application. This approach has served me well throughout my career, from early days as a freelance technician to managing complex IT infrastructures for various organizations.
I believe in making technology accessible and solving problems creatively, whether it’s developing business models for cloud transitions or creating efficient systems for managing large-scale operations.
